A Book Review and A Dare!

I am a day late with this, so sorry!

MotherTalk asked me if would be interested in doing a fun challenge with the release of The Double-Daring Book for Girls! In the same vein as the original Daring Book for Girls, it is chock full of fun things to do and cool ladies to read about. I have marked a couple of things that I want to do! And I want you to do one with me:

Make a Snow globe!

Cast of Characters:

a glass jar with lid (nice and clean, inside and out)

fun doodads to go inside your snow globe

glue or clay that is strong enough to keep the doodads connected to the lid

glitter

water

Remember, your doodads will be in the water, so make sure everything is water friendly. Also, if your glass jar has sticky left over from the label, soak it in a vinegar and water mixture over night and scrub off.

Instructions:

1) Glue the doodad(s) to the lid of the jar with glue or clay. Let it dry. You want to really make sure it's going to stick.

2) Once dry, fill the jar up with cold water, leaving a small bit for air. Add glitter.

3)Put on the lid and shake. make sure you like how the glitter falls and that there is enough water. Now is the time to add more or less of whatever. Dry off the lid well and then glue along the inside of the lid and then attach to the jar. Let it dry before you give it another shake.

Now you have something cool to hold your papers down or put on your shelf of stuff. Shake it frequently and ENJOY!!

Put your completed project on your blog or whatever by this coming Friday and let me know about it. I want to see all of your creative genius!

Double Dare!

It is The DOUBLE-Daring Book for Girls. This is an easy one so if you want to do this one instead (or both!), same rules apply.

Making Antique Paper:

You need:

Boiled water

Mug

Black tea bags

paper

paintbrush

shallow pan or baking dish

To do:

1)Place boiling water (watch out, it's HOT!) in a mug with several tea bags. One mug should be enough to do several papers, if you are doing a lot, make another mug or two.

2) Steep the tea for 20 minutes, pour into the shallow pan and place the paper in it. Let it soak for a few minutes, take them out and place on a paper towel to dry. Squeeze out the excess water from the tea bags and then rub over the paper. You can use the paintbrush over this to make a fun effect. If you want the paper to really look antique, put the paper in an oven at 200 degrees, right on the rack for 5 minutes.

I want to see what you can do! And, if anyone is already a pro at these, leave us some tips if you have any. I'll show you what I've made at the end of the week.
